About this registration

The Apprentice Sign Electrician registration allows individuals to install, maintain, and repair electric signs and outline lighting while under the direct supervision of a licensed sign electrician.

Pathway to licensure

Apprentice Sign → Journeyman Sign Electrician → Master Sign Electrician

To advance to Journeyman Sign Electrician, apprentices must pass the TDLR Journeyman Sign Electrician examination and meet the experience requirements.

Registration renewal

Renew annually through the TDLR license portal . 4 hours of CE are required per year.
